Dan Blocker’s grave is in De Kalb, Texas, at a family plot in Woodman Cemetery. Born in 1928, he grew to be 6 feet 4 inches and 300 pounds, becoming known as a gentle giant. He passed away in 1974 due to complications following a gall bladder surgery.
Blocker is regarded for his portrayal of Hoss Cartwright on the television show “Bonanza,” which aired from 1959 to 1972. In addition to his acting career, he served as a sergeant in the Korean War, worked as a high school history teacher in west Texas, pursued a Ph.D. at UCLA, and established the Bonanza steak house restaurant chain. He married Dolphia Lee Parker in 1952 and had a total of four children, two sons and twin daughters.
