Custom animation is a feature in PowerPoint that allows users to add movement and other special effects to their presentations. To use custom animations, click the Animations tab at the top of the screen and browse through the available effects. Effects vary depending on the version of PowerPoint.
The majority of the animations are used to personalize slide transitions. This includes making slides fade out, dissolve into various shapes or slide off the screen. There is also a tool that allows users to create a path of movement for pictures and other components of slides. Since PowerPoint introduced custom animations in 2000, most virtual presentation software programs have added their own versions of the tool.
