"Country Home" is a digital, subscription-based lifestyle magazine published by Meredith Corporation and distributed through Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Publications. It offers decorating, food, fashion, travel and shopping ideas for country lifestyle enthusiasts.
The magazine was launched in 1984, and it published a print edition through early 2009. Due largely to poor advertising returns, it ceased publication for some time and was eventually moved to its digital platform. The Iowa-based Meredith Corporation publishes many lifestyle magazines besides "Country Home," including "Shape," "Allrecipes," "Traditional Home," "Parents" and "Family Circle." All its brands are predominately focused on the adult female market. The company also holds 15 television stations, with much of its programming also in the female-oriented lifestyle category.
Meredith Corporation has been publicly held since 1946 and as of December 2015 is expected to complete its merger with Media General in 2016, operating from then on under the name Meredith Media General. The combined company is expected to be the third-largest owner of television stations in the United States. Meredith continues to run its media division, as well as its business-to-business marketing arm, which handles strategic licensing agreements with Walmart, Realogy and other retailers.
In 2014, it entered into a 10-year licensing arrangement with "Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia," adding "Martha Stewart Living," "Martha Stewart Weddings" and MyWedding.com to its lifestyle magazines line.
