Some classic Nickelodeon shows include "The Adventures of Pete and Pete," "Legends of the Hidden Temple" and "All That." Other classic Nickelodeon shows include "Rugrats," "Hey Arnold" and "SpongeBob SquarePants."
Some of the earliest classic Nickelodeon shows were live-action sitcoms, such as "The Adventures of Pete and Pete," starring Mike Maronna and Danny Tamberelli. Game shows were also popular during the early years of Nickelodeon, such as "Legends of the Hidden Temple" and "Double Dare," with the latter show receiving updates such as "Super Double Dare" and "Double Dare 2000." In the late 1990s, the channel produced popular sketch shows, such as "All That," and its spinoff, "The Amanda Show."
In the early 1990s, many of Nickelodeon's most popular shows were animated shows, called Nicktoons. Some of these shows include "Doug," "Rugrats" and "Ren and Stimpy," all of which premiered on Aug. 11, 1991. The success of these shows led to the production of additional Nicktoons, such as "Rocko's Modern Life," "The Angry Beavers" and "Hey Arnold!" Many of these shows have been out of production for a number of years, but some Nicktoons from this era are still producing new episodes, such as "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "The Fairly Oddparents."
