As of June 2014, there are nine books in the Jack Ryan series: "Patriot Games," "Red Rabbit," "The Hunt for the Red October," "The Cardinal in the Kremlin," "Clear and Present Danger," "The Sum of All Fears," "Debt of Honor," "Executive Orders," and "Command Authority." These books are all written by American author Tom Clancy.
The Jack Ryan series focuses on its namesake fictional character, a former officer in the U.S. Marines who ends up teaching history at the United States Naval Academy before being recruited as a CIA agent thanks to his intelligence and cunning. He eventually becomes the Deputy Director of the CIA before moving on to a career as a national security advisor. In later books, Ryan becomes the Vice President and then President of the United States. Several Jack Ryan books have been adapted into films, and as of June 2014, he has been portrayed by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.
