"The Great Hypnotist" tells the story of the famous psychologist, Xu Ruining, whose career is on the rise when he meets the troublesome patient Ren Xiaoyan. The meeting is not easy, as the frail-looking Ren is deliberately opposed to the psychologist.
In "Gang De Qin," a steel factory worker decides to forge a piano from scratch to fight for custody of his daughter who is passionate about playing the piano.
Set in a remote village, "Mountain Cry" begins with the sudden death of a husband and father whose family is new to the village's closely integrated traditional community. After the tragic event, the villagers come to understand the man's widow who is a mute but tells her story wordlessly.
"The Journey" tells the story of Bee and her British fiancé, Benji. Their marriage is at first opposed by Bee's conservative father Chuan, because of Benji's lack of cultural understanding of Chinese traditions. Chuan subsequently submits to their union on the condition that the wedding complies with Chinese tradition. Part of that tradition requires Chuan to invite all of his childhood friends personally. Chuan and Benji commence their cross-country adventure to deliver the invitations.
"Rhythm of the Rain" tells the story of youthful dreams, love and cultural differences. It is directed by Vincent Fang.
