Chelsea Handler is an American comedian, talk show host, and author best known for hosting "Chelsea Lately" from 2007 to 2014. Born in 1975, the New Jersey native is known for her blunt and candid style of comedy. She has penned two successful memoirs.
Though she relocated to Los Angeles at age 19 to pursue acting, Handler became a stand-up comedian when she entertained her DUI class with the story of her arrest. Performing in local comedy clubs, she developed a reputation for her edgy and arguably crass humor.
Handler found success on the E! network as the host of her talk show, "Chelsea Lately," where she interviewed celebrity guests, hosted a panel of comedians, and exchanged banter with her sidekick, a Mexican dwarf performer named Chuy Bravo.
Handler published her first book, "My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands," in 2005. Her second book, "Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," accompanied a comedy tour that earned $16 million.
In March 2014, Handler's contract with E! expired, and she chose not to continue hosting "Chelsea Lately" on E! In June of the same year, she reached an agreement with Netflix to relaunch her talk show on its video streaming service and create an accompanying series of specials.
