Chef John from Food Wishes is a chef who publishes recipes and instructional cooking videos online through his Food Wishes blog, his YouTube channel and Allrecipes.com, as of June 2015. For almost five years, he taught at the California Culinary Academy.
Chef John, whose full name is John Mitzewich, was born in Clifton Springs, New York on July 11, 1963. Beginning in 1981, he attended Paul Smith's College in New York. In 1983, he received his associate degree with honors in culinary arts/chef training. He also received an outstanding chef training student award.
Chef John's career includes numerous positions at different restaurants, many of them located around San Francisco, California. He served as sous chef at Ryan's Cafe and executive sous chef at the Carnelian Room. He has also worked in catering, graphic design and desktop publishing. He taught multiple classes at the California Culinary Academy, including kitchen math, purchasing and food industry software applications.
Chef John is the author of "America's Family Favorites: The Best of Home Cooking." He is also in an e-cookbook, "Chef John's Best Dishes," through Allrecipes.com. He acquired his Food Wishes blog in 2011, the same year he won a Tasty Award from Taste TV for Best Home Chef in a Series.
