Carrie Underwood's ancestors lived in her home state of Oklahoma, along with Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri and Kentucky. She is also related to the grandfather of President Abraham Lincoln through her great-grandfather, Stanton M. Luke.
Luke's wife was Essene Elba Thompson, a first cousin five times removed of Abraham Lincoln. Thompson and Lincoln shared the same grandfather, also named Abraham Lincoln. He was born on May 13, 1744. He was born in Pennsylvania, but moved to Virginia in 1768. He was a militia captain during the Revolutionary War. In 1781, Lincoln moved to Kentucky, where he lived for five years before being killed in an ambush. His son, Thomas, survived the ambush and later named his son Abraham in honor of his father.
Carrie Underwood was born to Carole and Stephen Underwood on March 10, 1983. Carole Underwood was an elementary school teacher and Stephen Underwood was a sawmill worker. Carrie Underwood was raised on a farm. Her first singing performances came as a child, at First Free Will Baptist Church and Robbins Memorial Talent Show.
In 2008, Underwood began dating Mike Fisher, a hockey player. She married him on July 10, 2010. On Feb. 27, 2015, she and Fisher had a son, Isaiah.
