"Call the Midwife" premiered on PBS in September 2012 and follows the life of Jennifer Worth, a former midwife in London's East End in the 1950s and 1960s. The show follows Jenny and the midwives and nurses of Nonnatus House who assist the poor women in the area with midwifery and other medical needs. They see the harsh and unclean conditions of the slums of London, but the women also join in many heart-warming experiences with the people in the area.
There are four seasons of the show, and it stars Vanessa Redgrave, Jenny Agutter, Helen George and Laura Main, as of 2015. This is a highly reviewed television show with 8.4 out of 10 stars on IMDB.com. The television show also has several award nominations and wins including the Quick TV Award, awards from the Royal Television Society, and a number of wins and nominations from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Some of the categories the show has won include Best Drama, Best Costume Design, Best Actress and Best Director.
