PaintCare sites accept standard household paint and primer, stain, varnish and shellac, but do not accept aerosol cans or industrial-grade material. Paint must be stored in its original container with label intact. If you are using a local recycling center, make sure you call or check the website to be sure that it accepts the type of waste you want to recycle. Some Lowe's stores also recycle paint as well as light bulbs, batteries and other difficult-to-dispose-of items.
