The history of the family-owned Wehrenberg Theatres began in 1906 with the kick-off of the Cherokee Theatre in St. Louis, Missouri. The owners added other locations, and, in 1948, the company launched its first drive-in theater. As theaters with multiple screens began appearing, Wehrenberg opened its first multiplex in the St. Louis area. During the 1980s and 1990s, Wehrenberg set up cinemas with 10 or more screens. Around this time, the company also began expanding outside the St. Louis area.Learn more about Art & Literature
