Julie Garwood is an American best-selling novelist who has published 27 novels, as of March 2015. The majority of her novels have made it to the New York Times Bestseller list, and the genre of her novels include historical romance, contemporary romantic suspense and young adult novels.
Born in 1944 Kansas City, Missouri, Garwood started writing while studying with double majors in nursing and history. Her background in history became evident in her historical romance novels, which were praised for having historically accurate settings. Her contemporary romance novels on the other hand, still reflected similar themes that dominated her historical novels which include family relationships or a group of friends who regard each other as family.
Early novels of Garwood were geared for young adult readers. Her novel "A Girl Named Summer," was published in 1986. She was also one of the group of writers who wrote under the pen name Emily Chase, with the novel "What's A Girl To Do?" in the "Girls of Camby Hall" series.Learn more about Fiction
