As of 2015, fans can contact Tia Maria Torres through Villalobos Rescue Center’s phone number at 504-948-4505, and email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The official Tia Maria Torres Facebook page provides the contact information, and the email is also confirmed on AnimalPlanet.com. The Villalobos Rescue Center, which is affiliated with Torres, is a rehabilitation facility for abused and abandoned pit bulls.
Torres, who began taking in neighborhood dogs and stray cats at a young age, shared a love for animals with her stepmother. As an adult, Torres one day visited the Los Angeles Animal Shelter where she met a pit bull named Tatanka. Although Los Angeles County didn’t allow adoption of pit bulls at the time, after petitioning Torres gained custody of the dog due to her existing relationship with animal control. This situation encouraged Torres to begin helping more pit bulls in the community.
Torres and her husband later began recruiting parolees to do community service at the rescue center. This caught the attention of several media outlets, including magazines and reality TV producers. Torres turned down several production companies because she didn’t want her personal life to be broadcast on television. She eventually agreed to a show called “Pit Bulls & Parolees” after donations for the center were decreasing. As of 2015, the show, which is broadcast on Animal Planet, has aired for six seasons.
