Draw a cat by starting with its head, sketching the shoulders, back and rump, outlining the chest, drawing the legs and adding the details. This drawing takes only a few minutes to do. You need a pen or pencil and a piece of paper.
- Draw the head
Start the head at the tip of the cat's nose. Draw a diagonal line upward for the top of the nose, and gently curve the line into the forehead. At the back of the forehead, draw a triangle for the ear. From the back of the ear, sketch another curving line for the back of the head. At the tip of the nose, draw a line that curves under for the nose and cheek.
- Draw the back
From the back of the head, draw a bump for the shoulders and another downward curving line for the back and rump of a cat that is sitting down.
- Sketch the chest
Starting at the underside of the nose, sketch a vertical curving line for the chest.
- Draw the legs
At the bottom of the chest, move the line into the front part of the front leg. Draw a rounded paw, and draw another vertical line for the back of the front leg. At the bottom of the rump, draw a horizontal line for the part of the leg sitting down. Curve this line around for the paw, and draw another short horizontal line for the top of the leg. At the end of the top of the leg, draw a large arch that touches the back of the front leg for the haunches of the cat.
- Add the details
At the bottom of the rump, draw a curving tail. At the top of the head, draw a second ear just behind the first, then draw the eye.
