As of 2015, Nielsen lists TV ratings for the previous week on its website, Nielsen.com. The website provides the Top 10 lists for network TV, cable TV, syndicated TV and other broadcasts.
In addition to providing Top 10 lists for TV, Nielsen.com also includes lists for the week's top books, music, video games, movies, beverages and more.
Nielsen began measuring TV audiences in 1950. The company currently monitors programming through the use of electronic meters in randomly chosen households. In addition, the company collects more than 2 million paper diaries from viewers in the United States during the sweeps months of February, May, July and November.
