The websites for Fandango and Moviefone provide current Friday listings for local movie theaters. In fact, they provide listings for local theaters for the entire week.
The Moviefone website requests permission to utilize the user's current location to find movies and theaters playing nearby. The user can click on movie posters for different films showing at nearby theaters to watch the trailer or purchase tickets. After choosing to purchase tickets, the user enters his city and state or ZIP code to find local showtimes, if the user wants to go to a theater in a different area, as the listings closest to the user's location already appear on the page. Purchasing tickets involves a convenience fee, but it allows the user to avoid standing in line, as it is possible to print out tickets or pick them up at a kiosk in the theater lobby.
The Fandango website works similarly, although it does not ask the user for permission to use his location. Instead, the home page asks the user to type in his city and state or ZIP code, and then available movies and theaters in the user's area appear on the screen. Fandango also allows online ticket purchases and assesses a convenience charge.
