Full Answer

The Sugden Community Theatre is the home of the Naples Players. Auditions are open to everyone, regardless of race, age or amount of performance experience. The director and other related staff often conduct the auditions and make the final casting decisions.

As of May, 2015, the appropriate phone number to call for scheduling an audition and the audition calendar are available at NaplesPlayers.org. The artist must bring his own sheet music to the audition and be prepared to sing 32 bars. The Naples Players provide an accompanist.

The audition also entails a cold reading and a dance portion, either a short routine or choreographed movement. For those who cannot locate copies of the script, the Sugden Community Theatre loans copies beginning one month in advance of opening night. Each performer may borrow a copy of the script for 72 hours and a $20 deposit.

Callbacks occur the following day. Artists who are not called back are still under consideration and may be contacted with a definite answer within a few weeks. The Naples Players encourage auditionees who are not cast on their first try to audition again. Throughout the year, the Naples Players offer classes on how to audition.
