Vera Jimenez is KTLA's meteorologist and traffic reporter for KTLA 5 News at 6 and at 10, as of 2015. Born in Mexico, she moved to southern California at age 3. She has won two Emmys, three Golden Mikes and three Golden Pylons.
Jimenez is also an owner of the Hermosa Beach Fish Shop. According to her biography for KTLA 5, she started in broadcasting at Santa Ana Community College, and later Cal State Long Beach, where she graduated with honors in religious studies. She participated in internships with KIK-FM in Orange and produced traffic for Shadow Broadcasting. She landed a fill-in job doing traffic overnight at KFWB-AM, and she was an airborne traffic reporter at KNX-AM.
Jimenez worked at KABC-TV and KCBS-TV, both in Los Angeles. While at KCBS-TV, Vera returned to school to study meteorology from Mississippi State, earning her certificate in August 2009.
Jimenez is married to businessman Brian Herlihy, who is also a partner in the Hermosa Beach seafood restaurant.
According to social media, she enjoys fitness and food. She maintains a balanced lifestyle through working out and eating nutritiously. She also enjoys cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends. Most of her family lives in Garden Grove.
