Melody Carlson has published more than 90 books, including the "Diary of a Teenage Girl" series. Carlson is a Christian author who has written children's books, multiple series for teenage girls, and both fiction and nonfiction for women.
As of 2015, Carlson has written 21 children's books with primarily Christian themes in addition to her series and standalone fiction for pre-teens and teenage girls. She contributed to the Faithgirlz brand with her series "The Girls of 622 Harbor View."
The "Diary of a Teenage Girl" series depicts the lives of teenage girls who struggle with family problems but feel inspired by their faith. The series features four protagonists: Caitlin, Chloe, Kim and Maya.
Carlson is also the author of the popular "True Colors" series, which tackles topics like suicide, eating disorders, substance abuse and sexuality for a teenage Christian audience. She followed these books with three shorter series: "Carter House Girls," "On the Runway" and "88 Bloomberg Place."
She has written several other series and standalone fiction for teen girls, along with nonfiction and devotionals. In addition, Carlson has penned novellas and nonfiction books aimed at adult women.
Carlson was born in San Francisco and raised in Oregon. Her works have appeared on the bestseller list for the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.
