Books by J. A. (Judith Ann) Jance include "Stand Down," "Trial by Fury," "Outlaw Mountain," "Tombstone Courage" and "Cruel Intent." As of November 2015, Jance has written over 50 mystery and horror novels. Her suspense novels include four series of books: the J. P. Beaumont series, the Joanna Brady series, the Ali Reynolds series and the Walker Family series. "After the Fire" is a collection of Jance's poems; "The Duel" and "Second Fiddle" are examples of her short stories.
Jance's first J. P. Beaumont suspense novel, "Until Proven Guilty," was published in 1985. "Dance of the Bones" is the 24th in the Beaumont series and was published in September 2015. The main character, J. P. Beaumont, is a retired Seattle police detective who appears in 21 novels.
In 1993, Jance published "Desert Heat," the first of 17 suspense novels in the Joanna Brady Series. The most recent Brady novel, "Remains of Innocence," was published in 2014. Joanna Brady is an Arizona county sheriff. Jance brought Beaumont and Brady together in both "Partner in Crime" and "Fire and Ice."
"Edge of Evil" is Jance's first novel in the Ali Reynolds series and was published in 2006. Since then, Jance added 10 additional books to the series, including the most recent, "A Last Goodbye" in 2014 and "Cold Betrayal" in 2015. These books are centered around Ali Reynolds, a former Los Angeles newscaster, and are set in Sedona, Arizona. The 12th book in the series, “Clawback,” is scheduled for publication in March 2016. The Diana Ladd Walker series contains five books, including “Hour of the Hunter,” “Kiss of the Bees,” “Day of the Dead” and “Queen of the Night.”
