Kindle and Kobo both have apps for Android phones that mimic the use of an e-reader. As of 2015, Audible, Aldiko Book Reader and Wattpad are popular and highly rated apps that allow the user to read or listen to audio books.
The Kindle app for Android allows the user to download and read all of the titles that are available on Amazon for the Kindle e-reader. This app also lets the user sync books to other devices, such as tablets or PCs, allowing a book to be read even if the user is away from his phone.
The Aldiko Book Reader is similar in function to the Kindle app but is free to download and install. The app allows readers to purchase and read books and make adjustments to font, text size and brightness for easier reading. This app also has dictionary support that lets readers look up unfamiliar words without leaving the app.
The Audible Android app allows users to download and listen to audio books on a phone, which may be helpful for those who experience eye strain on a small bright screen. Wattpad compiles books by both published and aspiring authors, allowing users to read stories and post their own unpublished stories for others to read.
