As of 2015, Genevieve Gorder is an interior designer and a television host for several shows on the HGTV network. Gorder also operates her own studio and production company in Manhattan, where she resides with her daughter. Gorder has designed with several clients and companies ranging from her collection at Capel Rugs and with Royal Caribbean. She has been featured on several publications including her own digital magazine, Real Genevieve.
Gorder spent time as an exchange student in Barcelona, Spain, and attended a graphic design course at Lewis & Clark College. During this time, she entered a collage she made into a competition and won an internship at MTV in New York City. MTV offered her a job after her internship, which led to her relocating to the city permanently.
Gorder later earned a design degree from New York’s School of Visual Arts and then began working with a graphic arts firm called Duffy Design. A production company later contacted Gorder and offered her to try out for a new reality TV show. In 2000, Gorder and five other interior designers starred in “Trading Spaces,” where she re-designed rooms on a budget. The show became one of the most highly rated shows on TLC, which led her career to other TV projects.
