Contestants on "The Taste" must be legal residents of the United States and at least 18 years of age. You cannot be a current candidate for public office or have a relative who works for the show. When attending an open call, bring a signature dish for the experts to taste. The food must be completely prepared in advance, as no kitchen is available at the casting call. Only heating devices that are battery-operated can be brought to and used at the casting location. In addition, bring a completed application form, one to three photos of yourself and one to three photos of your signature dish. The earlier you apply, the better your chances are.

When sending in a video submission, include your name, age, occupation and what city you live in. Your video should be a fun video that shows off your personality. The video should show you cooking you signature dish and explaining why cooking means so much to you. Videos can not be longer than 10 minutes.
