Barbara Eden is an American television actress most famous for her role as the genie on the popular 1960s television show "I Dream of Jeannie." Barbara Eden's real name is Barbara Jean Morehead. She was born in Tucson, Arizona, in 1931. Her first acting role was in the 1956 film "Back from Eternity." She appeared in several popular television shows, such as "I Love Lucy" and "Gunsmoke," before she was offered the role of Jeannie in 1965.
In "I Dream of Jeannie," Eden starred as the blond genie-in-a-bottle found by NASA astronaut Major Anthony Nelson, played by Larry Hagman. The show ran from 1965 to 1970, and gained a cult following. It continued to air in syndication for decades following its cancellation.
Eden continued working in films and television as well as touring in several musicals. She has performed at the White House and been featured on 21 Bob Hope specials.
