Kayna Whitworth is the former morning anchor for WHDH in Boston. She left the job in February 2015 and moved to Los Angeles to be closer to her fiancée, Rhett Lewis, who works for the NFL Network.
Whitworth grew up in Colorado. She is the daughter of a high school football coach and grew up on the sidelines. Her mother is a marathon runner. Whitworth graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins in 2005 with a degree in speech communication with a concentration in rhetorical studies. She played on the club lacrosse team for the Colorado State Rams.
Whitworth interned for Fox Sports and then went to KTVZ in Bend, Oregon. In Boise, Idaho, she solo-anchored the morning show. She then went to Tucson, Arizona. While there, she covered the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, border wars and wildfires. She served as the spokesperson for the Southern Arizona chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Whitworth went to work for WHDH in Boston in December 2012. While in Boston, she participated in the Best Buddies Challenge, which is a bike ride to raise awareness for people with intellectual disabilities. She left WHDH in February 2015. As of August 2015, she is a freelance reporter for ABC News One in Los Angeles. Her hobbies include running and spending time with her dog, Tater. She has completed several triathlons and half marathons.
