The Bloomsburg Fairgrounds is the location of the annual Bloomsburg Fair, usually held from late September to early October. The fairground also holds sports expos, dog shows, concerts and other events throughout the year.
Also called the Columbia County Fair, Bloomsburg Fair is the largest fair in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and it usually begins on the third Monday of September. The fair's organizers host a number of events, including harness racing, motor sports shows, amusement rides, concerts and fireworks. The Demolition Derby is a popular event where vehicles of all types and sizes race and battle in an arena.
Originally an agricultural event, the Bloomsburg Fair also conducts horticultural and livestock exhibits that show prized fruits and vegetable, floral arrangements, baked goods, landscaping designs, artwork and other entries. The fair also features a variety of games, contests, shows and over a thousand food stands during the annual festival.
Aside from the annual fair, Bloomsburg Fairgrounds is also a popular location for shows and sports events. Bloomsburg Nationals, an event for car enthusiasts, takes place at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds during the second week of August each year. Other events hosted at the Fairgrounds each year include American Kennel Association dog shows, along with popular artists, rock bands and comedians.
