A.J. Cook was born Andrea Joy Cook in Ontario, Canada in 1978. She is an actress best known for her role as Jennifer "JJ" Jareau on the television series "Criminal Minds." As a child, she took up jazz, ballet and tap, and competed in dancing for many years. Her first job in front of the camera was in 1997, when she was cast for a McDonald's commercial.
A.J. Cook began acting as a teenager and has since appeared in several television and film roles. Her television credits include appearances in "Tru Calling," "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit," "Dead Like Me," "First Waves" and "Higher Ground." Her film credits include roles in "The Virgin Suicides," "Out Cold," "Final Destination 2," "The House Next Door" and "Misconceptions." She also contributed to the soundtrack of "Misconceptions."
Cook joined the cast of "Criminal Minds" in 2005 and has appeared in over 200 episodes. She became a spokesperson for Proactive in 2013, and in 2014 made "Maxim" magazine's hot 100 list. As of 2015, Cook is married to Nathan Andersen and lives in Los Angeles, California. The couple met while attending Utah Valley University and married in 2001. They have two sons, Mekhai and Phoenix Sky.
