Radcliffe plays the main protagonist Arthur Kipps, Hinds and McTeer play Sam and Elisabeth Daily, White plays Jennet Humfrye, and Allam plays Mr. Bentley. Radcliffe is known for his prominent role as the title character in the Harry Potter film series. Hinds has appeared in the television series "Game of Thrones" and the film "There Will Be Blood."

The movie grossed more than $125 million worldwide at the box office. A sequel titled "The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death" released in January 2015. None of the actors from the first film returned in the sequel.
