An ABS-CBN Teleserye is a type of televised dramatic fiction airing on the Philippine broadcasting network ABS-CBN. ABS-CBN produces many popular and award-winning teleseryes, such as "Lobo," "Dahil May Isang Ikaw" and "Panday."
Teleseryes in the Philippines are similar to American soap operas but often feature unique Philippine social issues, such as political corruption. They also feature many different genres, including fantasy and romance, which attract viewers of all ages and genders. Some teleseryes become so popular that the network exports them to other Asian countries.
Some award-winning teleseryes by ABS-CBN in the 2000s include "Lobo," a supernatural horror series; "Magkaribal," a romance and fashion drama; and "Kahit Isang Saglit," a romance. The success of teleseryes makes the shows the most expensive advertising slots on the network and gives them command of primetime five days a week.
