gracias, plural noun:
thanks

Of course, as an exclamation Gracias is one of the first words you learn in Spanish:

Te lo doy, si te gusta tanto - ¡Gracias!
I’ll give it to you if you like it so much - Thanks!

You can use gracias in other ways as a noun, particularly in the following phrases:

gracias a
thanks to

Sobreviven gracias a la ayuda internacional.
They survive thanks to international aid.

¡Gracias a Dios!
Thank heavens!

Gracias a Dios que te encuentro.
Thank heavens I’ve found you!

dar las gracias a alguien por algo
to thank somebody for something

Notice how you use para and por here:

Te llamaba para darte las gracias por todo lo que hiciste.
I was ringing to thank you for everything you’ve done.
