There is a lot of controversy concerning the accuracy of IQ (intelligence quotient) tests because individual tests are basically used to determine the average intelligence of a person within a set culture. This is why many people feel that the tests do not accurately calculate the intelligence of a person who may not be well versed within the culture for which the test was designed. There is
. one test called the TONI 2 (Test of Non-Verbal Intelligence Version 2) that can be used by anyone from the ages of 5 through 85. This is one of the better tests because it is a language-free way to test abstract problem solving ability. And, since it also is free of linguistic, motoric, and cultural factors there is really nothing to interfere with the actual determination of the intelligence of the person. Keep in mind that intelligence test scores (with any of the tests available) can change for the same person depending on their desire to take the test and the effort they put into it.
