Gophers and groundhogs are similar but not the same. Gophers are smaller than groundhogs. Groundhogs, sometimes call woodchucks, are found through out the east and south. You can find them about anywhere but pasture fields are a fovorite. Gophers are found farther to the west. Both pose problems to farmers and ranchers because of the holes they dig. Livestock are know to brake legs in them.
