Admonish

Admonish comes from the Latin word "admonere" meaning to warn, to remind. An example of it used could be " I admonish my kids to look both ways prior to crossing the street." Which means, I warn kindly but strongly. I instruct and counsel them against their wrongdoings. It is a verb, a doing word.
