The Shinnecock Indian Nation prides itself on being the longest self-governing tribes in The United States. As of September of 2009, the tribe had over 1300 members. The Shinnecock or People of the Stony Shore is located in the town of Southampton, on the East End of Long Island. In 2001, the tribe opened a museum that offers a unique into the customs and history of the Shinnecock people. For
