"An abnormal brain MRI image will vary depending on what medical illness or disease the patient has. Illnesses effect different parts of the brain. For example, one illness may show up in the left bottom part of the brain, or another illness could show up in the right bottom part of the brain. Something that will always indicate that something is abnormal is if one of the portion of the brain is
. larger than the other. For example, if the left side of the brain is larger than the right side on the image. Another indicator of abnormality is color. If the MRI image shows a portion of the brain that is white in color, this can represent an abnormal image. Also, if the image is much darker in some areas that the usual muted gray color, this can indicate an abnormality. If it is a normal brain MRI image, each portion of the brain will be the same in size, and the coloration of the brain will be the same on both sides."
