Aberrant Behavior Checklist(ABC) is a checklist for evaluating problem behaviors relating to mentally and developmentally challenging individuals. The evaluation is done for the age range 6 to 54 years of age. The length of time for this assessment is between 10 and 15 minutes. The assessment evaluates children and adults with mental retardation and behavioral problems within their environment.
. The ABC assessment checks their irritability and agitation, their lethargic and social withdrawal from their environment, their stereotypic behavior, their hyperactivity and noncompliance and inappropriate speech. The ABC assessment evaluates individuals in their community as well as their place of residence. There is also an alternate to the ABC. There is the GAF (Global Assessment of Functioning). Both these assessments are professionally used to assess mental retardation and behaviors in adult and children.
