The legal age to drop out of school has two requirements. If you are 18 you are legally able to drop out of school with no restrictions. If you are under the age of 18 you will need to have a parents permission or you need to be amancipated. If you just do not attend school and you are under the age of 18 then in some states the parents can be held responsible and face legal charges. If this
. happens then parents can be found guilty and have to do a few different things. The findings of the court can include but not limited to jail time, fines and community service.
