Card catalogs are what the libraries use to keep track of their books. These use to be done manually but now a days everything is done on the computer. Most libraries don't even have a paper card catalog anymore. The card catalog has three kinds. There is the author card which goes by the authors name, the title catalog which goes by the title of the book and the subject catalog which goes by
. the subject matter.
