Ibid citation is used for endnote or footnote citation as a reference for a source. Ibid is Latin for "the same place" and is short for ibidem. The use of ibid has become less popular and is often discouraged. The purpose of ibid is to site the same work that was previously cited without having to be redundant. An example is if you have the following listed in your source. 1. D. Murdoch,
. Just Me (Idaho: Academic, 2009) pg. 5 2. Ibid 3. Ibid pg. 50 As you can see, you would use ibid if your source is the same and ibid with the new page number if it is the same reference, but different page number.
