Starting at any early age, most schools in the United States encourage children to form student governments. These student governments consist of a variety of positions that are intended to provide life lessons and teach children how to be responsible and lead by example. Along with the positions of student president and vice president is the position of school treasurer. The school treasurer
. position is responsible for maintaining the student funds and making sure that the correct amount of money is allotted to the proper channels. This is a position that requires responsibility and attention to detail.The vast majority of student treasurer positions are won by elections. Usually, there are a few candidates who are running to be the student treasurer, and the kids must make the case why they would be a good choice to be the treasurer. Elementary school speeches for treasurer, or any student council position, should be short and simple. Young kids are not interested in long drawn out speeches, or about "issues" at all. The best thing for a child who is running for council to do is to just be themselves and speak from the heart. The best way for a child to get elected is to tell the other kids why they should vote for them, and why they are a good person for the job. A good thing to include in a treasurer speech is that the candidate intends to help raise money for the school and that they are very responsible and really good at math. These are good characteristics for a treasurer and saying this in a speech gives the other kids a good reason to vote for the candidate. A catchy slogan that includes a candidate's name is always a great ending to a speech as well.
