Teaching practices are a constant topic of debate in education. There are so many different ways that it really boils down to what fits the application and it is up to the instructor to determine which methods are going top work best. By observing the class response while teaching it is easy to see what works and what does not.Preparation is a large contributor to successful teaching. Simply
. jotting down an outline with key points and a timescale can do wonders. By following some very broad guidelines teaching can be a very fruitful endeavor. In any setting, from elementary school to college, the best way to start a lesson is to give a brief statement about what will be covered in the days lesson. Doing this gives the students something to expect and helps them see the big picture from the beginning. From there the lesson is subject to teaching style and the needs of the class.
1. Name the lesson (This name should capture everything the lesson will cover)
2. Determine a timescale for the lesson
3. Gather any required materials (This could include anything from paint for arts and crafts to study sheet for college classes)
4. List every key-point that students should know by the end of the lesson
5. Give the students a reason for what they are learning to motivate them
6. An instructional component such as a lecture or guided hands on experience
7. Independent or group work that allows students to learn more without guided instruction
8. Summarize what the student should have learned and go over anything they did not learn
9. Test for competency in the information or skill taught via a written test or field test
10.Review test results and go back to discuss things that the class did not understand.
