There are many different academic consequencse of plagiarism, ranging from mild or no consequences to expulsion from the academic institution. In high school, usually a student caught plagiarizing will receive an "F" grade and will get suspended or receive detention. Many colleges require students to sign honor codes before taking exams or handing in papers. A notation will usually be written on the student's transcript. If an employer requests the student's transcript, the employer will see the plagiarism notation.
