Genuine Windows Validation is a program by Microsoft that you will come across the first time you go to their site for security, software, and hardware driver updates. Before allowing you to download any information from the site, Microsoft installs the validation program on your computer to make sure you have a legal, paid for, copy of the Microsoft operating system installed. After you have
. installed this program and its affiliate files, when you return to install updates, you will either be allowed or denied access to the desired information. If your copy is legitimate, you will have no problems. On the other hand, if you have a hot, or illegal, copy on your computer, access will be denied. This is done by checking the ID code in your registry. You may need to buy a new copy of Windows either from Microsoft, your favorite computer store, or from an ebay seller. You might also find a code on the back of an old discarded Gateway, Dell, or e-machine tower cabinet.
