Dune 2000 is a video game released in 1998 based off of Frank Herbert's iconic Dune book series. This version is a partial remake of the earlier game Dune 2, which was released for DOS in 1992. Though originally formatted for a single type of system, it is now available to be played on both PC and Playstation consoles. The game play centers around choosing one of three famous houses from the Dune

The player can choose to represent House Atreides, House Harkonnen, or House Ordos on an epic challenge posed by their Emperor to gain control of the source of the most vital substance in the universe: The Spice.It is the player's job to produce as much spice as possible in order to win the challenge as posted by Emperor Corrino. Whichever house produced the most spice will be left to control the entire spice production planet, Arrakis. There are many different ways to achieve victory in the game.There are also several hidden gems that can be accessed by the player after a certain amount of points have been gained. Most of the additional content serves to make winning easier by providing additional troops for each house to control, or even more advanced weaponry. Though it is important to note that the game can be completed with or without any of the hidden extras.This game has been widely distributed since it's inception. Though Dune 2000 is formatted primarily for PC play, the fact that it is also available for Playstation has helped to bring the game to a wider audience. The level of action and difficulty should make it an interesting addition to any game library.
