DMG is a file extension for disk image files used for MAC computers. The .dmg extension actually stands for disk image. A DMG file itself is actually like a virtual drive such as a hard drive or cd/dvd drive. The file can be written to the hard drive, burned to a disk or even sent over the internet. All of the information that is encapsulated in the file will be sent with it.
