Windows XP has a new system that requires every user to obtain an activation key for each installation. The key is generated by Microsoft and is a long sequence of numbers based on information in your computer's hardware. New computers are pre-activated with the key. Windows XP Professional sold to corporate users with a site-license doesn't contain an activation code and won't need to be
. activated. This was all done to curb software piracy and there's no way around disabling the Windows XP activation code. If the key isn't entered after a certain period of time; Windows XP will soon expire and will no longer function. It's a bummer, but it's true!
