"The process to configure Microsoft Outlook for AOL mail is slightly different than other email providers. AOL uses an IMAP server for incoming mail, rather than the more standard POP3.Open Outlook and select E-Mail Accounts from the Tools menu. Select Add A New Account and continue. On the next screen, select IMAP then continue. Fill in your account information, like your user name, password and
. email address. Where it asks for the incoming server, type imap.aol.com. Where it asks for the outgoing server, type smtp.aol.com. You will then need to select More Settings. Locate the Outgoing Server tab then select the Authentication Required option. You will also need to check the box that says ""Use the same settings as my incoming mail server."" The last step is under the Advanced tab. Locate the Outgoing mail box and change the port number to 587. This is the port used by AOL mail servers.Click through the rest of the menus and confirm your choices and you're done. You should be able to send and receive AOL email using Outlook."
