In this day and age checking electronic mail is so simple you might be doing it and not even realize it. Remember the days with the super slow speed connection and the not so lighting fast computers? Well if one is ready to check their electronic mail they can head on over to www.aol.com or through your AIM one can access it as well.In the old days, sending messages was dangerous, slow and
. expensive. Messages were once delivered by horse from a service called the Pony Express. Messages were delivered by horse from station to station, riding as far as the message needed to go. Sending a message was expensive, and it could take weeks before the recipient of the message would receive the message. This can be far too late in some circumstances. Later, the Pony Express was replaced by the telegraph, an invention that allowed near instant messaging, although it was still expensive to send messages, and it took training to send and decode the messages.Later on, as computers were more widely used, people began using computers to send messages quickly. Electronic mail actually predated the creation of the World Wide Web and electronic mail was a huge factor in creating the internet. Standards of encoding electronic messages date all the way back to 1973, and the first ARPANET e-mail was sent in 1971. In the early 80's e-mail on personal computer networks became more important. This revolutionized remote communication forever. No longer would people have to wait several weeks before the recipient received his/her message. The risk of the message being lost along the way is almost zero. Now sending a message was instant, cheap and safe. Today many people and businesses use electronic mail to communicate with one another and send messages. The benefits of having electronic mail go on and on.
