The official logo font for the Major Leage Baseball team Boston Red Sox is a proprietary typeset created for and named after the team by the Ortiz-Lopez Typefoundry. The font is based on turn-of-the-century Tuscan woodcut designs, harking back to the founding of the team in 1901. The most commonly used letter of the font is the "B" which is shown on jerseys and fan gear. For the Sox logos, the
. font is generally shown in red, outlined inwhite, on a midnight navy background.Though the official custom typeface has not been made available to the public, there is a downloadable font design based on the official Boston Red Sox font called Bosox, which was created in 2003 by artist Lee Gordon. The downloadable version is available through many font websites including bold, semibold, italic, outline, etc, and to the casual eye is very similar to the official font. There is also a similar font in use by various chapters of the Hell's Angels, though there is no association. For more information, please see: http://ask.reference.com/related/font
